We’re launching another new blog! Check out “The Magic Bullet”

We’re proudly announcing the launch of yet another *new* blog! Thanks to contributing editor Jack Mosel for the idea and our founding editor, New Frontier, for the name and concept of the our latest site, THE MAGIC BULLET. We hope you will check it out and become an active participant in the debates there.  Right now, we’re just getting the site up off the ground, so please help us grow by telling a few friends about it and add our link to your blogrolls!

About the Magic Bullet

The founding fathers (and mothers!) of this blog met each other through a shared interest in the conspiracy research movement, particularly the JFK, RFK and MLK assassinations and the events of September 11, 2001.

We are proud Americans who love our country, but hate what we see happening to it. Though our own individual journeys of study and discovery, we all came to the same conclusion: that the same dark cabal of conspirators was responsible for the deaths of King and the Kennedys, as well as 3,000 innocent Americans on 9/11 – and that furthermore, this conspiracy actually has been in existence for hundreds of years, dating back to the earliest days of our Republic.

Our editorial team, comprised of Jack Mosel (senior editor), Tiger Haynes and New Frontier (contributing editors), all met while blogging on the various Kennedy-oriented websites founded by New Frontier. The idea recently came up to start a new blog where we could discuss other subjects that were not directly related to the Kennedys, and THE MAGIC BULLET was born.

Why THE MAGIC BULLET, you ask? 

It’s simply a metaphor for “official” government cover stories (i.e. lies). Whenever governments perform an act of terrorism or a massive hoax on their own people, they always offer up a “magic bullet theory” – such as the Warren and 9/11 Commissions — some nice, convenient little way to tie up the loose ends and make it all sound like it was just a perfect coincidence, a “magic” bullet, if you will.
The idea of a blog called THE MAGIC BULLET is to de-construct those official myths and instead present the TRUTH. Ideally, this site will feature articles that are deeply researched, passionately written…and above all, THOUGHT-PROVOKING! The kinds of stories that stir debate and encourage readers to agree, disagree, and/or offer up their own version of historical events and yes, conspiracy theories, too.
Here we will endeavor not just to cover cover current events, but we want to help readers come to a better understanding of our history as well. We will examine critical events in American history, and present an “alternate” or “buried” version of the FACTS, not the HYPE or COVER STORY.
For example – here are just a few upcoming stories we’re working on:
  • Did America really win the Revolutionary War, or are we still secretly being controlled by our “mothership,” Great Britain? 
  • Was the Civil War really fought to free the slaves? Or was it about usurpation of state’s rights?
  • Why was President McKinley assassinated?
  • What REALLY caused the Great Depression?
  • Is the Federal Reserve really Federal, and does it have a Reserve?
  • Why do we have a Federal Income Tax, and are we as individuals required to pay it?
  • Why was it necessary for the USA to become involved in WWI and WWII, when both were “Europe’s wars?”
  • Why did we go into Korea and Vietnam? Was it to stop the spread of communism as they say, or to make arms manufacturers rich?
  • What useful purpose does the United Nations serve? Is it a plot for global government or a benevolent organization that strives to save the world from itself?
  • Did Sirhan Sirhan really kill RFK all by his lonesome, or did he have help? If so, who else was involved and why haven’t they been caught?
  • Was JFK Jr.’s plane crash really “pilot error”? Or something more sinister?
  • Are the Bushes really Nazis?
  • Where’s Osama?
And of course…..last but certainly not least:
  • Was 9/11 an inside job?
These are just a few stories we’re currently developing, subjects that have always intrigued us, questions about our past that we  still research actively and seek answers to. We’d like to share our findings with others and encourage them to dig deeper; do more seeking on their own; to think independently and not just swallow whatever version of events their government gives them as fact.
There is so much more going on in the world today than meets the eye, so much more to history than what is in our history books. Or what they teach in school. We have to teach each other and educate OURSELVES, because there ain’t no such thing as a MAGIC BULLET! It’s all a myth and a dirty lie!!!!

The Trouble With Professional Politicians

It’s the same ol thing out of Washington we see,
Our elected officials doing as they please.

We voted them in, they gave us an oath,
Democrats and Republicans shame on them both.

They want us to think that THEY know what’s best,
The gall to believe they are better than the rest…

And that’s exactly what should happen the next election day.

Should be voted out of office, that’ll get their attention.

Remembering Beverly Eckert: 9/11 Widow and American Patriot


It is with great sadness that I report the following news to our readers: we just learned that Beverly Eckert, widow of the late Sean Rooney (who died in the WTC on 9/11) was one of the victims in the Continental Airlines commuter plane crash in Buffalo. Flight 3407 mysteriously fell out of the sky at around 10:20 p.m. last night and crashed into a private home, killing all 47 persons on board and one person on the ground.

This news just breaks my heart. Although I never had the chance to meet her personally, I exchanged several emails with Beverly over the years in regards to her outstanding work as a victims’ advocate, and as a leader for the 9/11 widows who continued to seek answers from the government as to what REALLY happened to their loved ones on that horrible day. I had tremendous respect and admiration for the lady and her work, and of course, just naturally assumed that our paths would eventually cross one of these days. Unfortunately, that will not happen now.

Beverly Eckert was a key member of the now-defunct 9/11 Family Steering Committee, an offshoot of the Coalition for an Independent 9/11 Commission, which advocated the creation of an independent commission to investigate the intelligence failures that made 9/11 possible. The coalition represented a wide array of 9/11 families’ organizations, including Families of September 11, Sept. 11 Advocates (also known as “The Jersey Girls”), and Voices of September 11. Although the call for a commission was initially resisted by the Bush Administration, the coalition eventually prevailed in the creation of the 9/11 Commission.

Beverly cooperated with and monitored the 9/11 Commission, but later criticized the commission’s final report, claiming that commission members had only selective memories of all the evidence they had been presented. She also later complained publicly that many of the protective measures recommended by the 9/11 Commission were never implemented.

In 2006, Beverly was prominently featured in the 9/11 documentary film, On Native Soil, a must-see for anyone interested in learning the facts of that fateful day in our history.

Most recently, Beverly joined forces with the ACLU in December 2008 to challenge the legitimacy of the Guantánamo military commissions and their ability to achieve justice.

A week before her death, Eckert met with President Obama at the White House as part of a group of 9/11 families and relatives of those killed in the bombing of the USS Cole, discussing how the new administration would handle terror suspects.

Beverly was not only a sweet lady who gave so much of her time, money and effort to this cause, she was also tremendously dedicated to her late husband’s memory, and to seeking justice for ALL 9/11 victims and their families. She has spent nearly every day of her life since 9/11/2001 in pursuit of the truth and government accountability.

Feb. 12, 2009 was no different for Beverly. Late yesterday evening when she hurriedly boarded the last flight out of Newark in inclement weather, she was on her way to Buffalo to present a Sean Rooney scholarship at his former high school (Rooney was a Buffalo native) which had been established in her late husband’s memory. To further compound the tragic irony, this weekend would have marked her late husband’s 58th birthday, and she was planning to mark the occasion with his friends and family in the city of Buffalo.

It’s sad and certainly strange enough that the woman who fought such a long and tireless battle for truth and justice for all victims killed in the fiery plane crashes of September 11, 2001 would meet her own fate in another fiery plane crash. That in itself I can barely comprehend. But when I think of where Beverly was headed, going back to Sean’s hometown on his birthday to give a scholarship in his name, my brain locks up and my heart sinks into the pit of my stomach.

Dammit, it’s just not fair, I tell `ya. It’s not fair.

If, as they say, there ain’t no justice in this world and we’ll have to wait until we reach the next world for that, I suppose the only real consolation is that Sean and Beverly are finally together again now.

Sadly, 8 1/2 years after the Sept. 11 tragedy, so many of the 9/11 commission’s recommendations have still not been implemented. So much of Beverly’s tireless effort was never fully and officcially recognized, except by those within the 9/11 Truth activist community, who saw her as one of their heroes.

Beverly Eckert was not a 9/11 Truther. She was not a conspiracy nut. She never wore a tinfoil hat or stood on a streetcorner with a bullhorn yelling, “9/11 Was An Inside Job!” She was a respectable insurance professional who lived a quiet, unassuming life with her beloved husband in Stamford, CT until 9/11 changed everything. She felt compelled to speak up and demand a REAL investigation and JUSTICE, as any reasonable, concerned American should. She always spoke eloquently and truthfully, never showing any flashes of temper, but plenty of righteous anger. She was a woman of great courage and many of us will dearly miss her energy and leadership.

But we must press on. We must move forward in our search for the truth. We must honor her by continuing to demand real answers and accountability from our government officials. If it was in fact an inside job, we must chase down the real terrorists who did this dastardly deed and prosecute them to the fullest extent of the law. We must do all that we can to ensure that it NEVER happens again. That’s all Beverly was saying: that the most patriotic thing we as Americans can do is to raise legitimate questions and expect honest answers.

Summing up Beverly’s mission in life these past eight years is an extremely difficult task upon learning of her death first thing early this morning. I can’t even comprehend it yet, let alone begin to process it. Words elude me.

But while I was reflecting on the meaning of Beverly’s life and her ironic, tragic death, the words of President Theodore Roosevelt suddenly popped into my mind. This particular quote from T.R. seemed to me a perfect way to describe what motivated Beverly to do what she did — and the lasting contribution she made to our understanding of what really happened on 9/11. It also reminds us to keep seeking the truth, and to never give up the fight for justice, despite forces who seek to oppose and silence us:

“Patriotism means to stand by the country. It does NOT mean to stand by the President or any other public official save exactly to the degree in which he himself stands by the country. It is patriotic to support him insofar as he efficiently serves the country. It is unpatriotic not to oppose him to the exact extent that by inefficiency or otherwise he fails in his duty to stand by the country.”

But I’ll give Beverly the last word.

In a 2006 interview with the BBC, Beverly related the heartwrenching story of her husband’s final moments on September 11, which she unfortunately “ear-witnessed” over the phone. After the South Tower was hit by a plane, Sean tried to escape but became trapped on the 105th floor. Once he realized that he probably was not going to make it out alive, he called his wife and they began to say their goodbyes to one another.

“We were just remembering how happy we were. I just wanted to crawl through the phone and hold him but then there was an explosion (emphasis mine – Ed.), followed by a loud crack and a sound like an avalanche. That was the tower coming down. He was gone.

I try not to look at what I lost but what I had. We had 34 very good years together – we were together since we 16 – and there are not many people who have had that.

I felt that the best way to honour his memory and the life we lived was to live a good life, to be strong and to inspire people.

I can tell Sean’s story so that people understand his bravery in the face of death. Sean died without regrets and that helps me get through the day. “

Beverly Eckert lived and died without regrets. Her courage and strength will continue to inspire and motivate us all for decades, perhaps even centuries, to come. It is my hope and indeed a fervent prayer that one day in the distant future, after the haze of emotionalism has cleared, her name will go down in the annals of history as one who dared to take a stand against the incompetence which resulted in the preventable loss of nearly 3,000 innocent lives on 9/11.

Op-Ed: Let Justice Be Done, Though the Heavens Fall

The phrase “let justice be done though the heavens fall” is probably best known to our readers as being spoken by New Orleans District Attorney Jim Garrison during his 1967 trial of Clay Shaw for the murder of President John F. Kennedy  (these words are also inscribed on Garrison’s tombstone).

But these words are as old as the scriptures, and the notion has been around for thousands of years. Fiat justitia ruat caelum is a Latin legal phrase, translating to “Let justice be done, though the sky may fall.”  The maxim signifies the belief that justice must be realized regardless of consequences.

Although this legal argument has been used in court cases to justify overturning the conviction of Haywood Patterson in the Scottsboro Boys trial to the abolition of slavery in England, perhaps Immanuel Kant said it best in 1795: “Let justice reign even if all the rascals in the world should perish from it.”

So, why am I invoking this age-old legal maxim now, you might ask?

I am not talking about the issue of justice for JFK, or even RFK (though there is still much work to be done on both of those fronts). I am not addressing this editorial to RFK Jr., Caroline Kennedy, or any member of the Kennedy family specifically, although I wish they would lend us their voices. I am talking about our outgoing President and his entire administration, who look as if they will skate merrily back to the slimepits from whence they came without so much as a slap on the wrists for their numerous impeachable offenses, crimes against the Constitution of the United States, and indeed, against all humanity.

To promote real democracy as being worthwhile and un-reproachable even in the most dire of circumstances, we must take back our country from zealots and self-appointed dictators, evidenced from the crimes we have endured from the past eight years of dictoral rein from the Bush/Cheney legacy period… (Unquestionably) our darkest hours.

But simply electing a new president does not fix the problem. Nor will it make the past go away or be forgotten.

It is undoubtedly painful and almost embarrassing to me to describe my opinion and my country’s activities from repeated abuse over the last eight years on its own people and on its own rule of law. Many might feel that we should let bygone’s be bygone’s and let the Obama Administration get busy with getting all the mess back on track. I agree in theory, but the problem is… the extent of the carnage that was created (that which we know about) was so outrageous and so over the top, that I feel special mechanisms must be in place to re-visit these crimes and without prejudice, investigate and prosecute to the fullest extent of the law, all the puppet’s and their masters’ in this hostile takeover, hit and run administration’s drive by, that has left our Constitution, our integrity, our economy and for many of our most patriotic lives in ruin. And that’s not even getting into the American soldiers who have lost their lives in Bush’s war for oil, nor does it account for the deaths of hundreds of thousands of innocent civilians in the middle east.

9/11/2001: There were more than just axis’s of evil operating in the ‘theater’ from outside our country that day… There IS complicity and COORDINATION that emanated from within our own borders at the highest levels of government and the cloaked private sector COINCIDENTALLY fomented and CONCURRENTLY FACILTATED the events that happened prior to, during and immediately after that horrible day that ushered us into the QUAGMIRE and MELEE of a series of collapsing trap doors that have brought us to our knees today.

If agreed that these are the circumstances that are the results of the Bush regime’s power grab and un-American activities at the highest level of our Democracy, rendering us all to mere observers of own demise, helplessly… Some investigation and some accounting of these actions needs to elaborated on, with real and permanent consequences for establishing mechanisms and fail-safes and prosecutions, that send the message clearly that this never is permitted to occur ever again in the United States of America.


Are these just sound bytes? News Cycles? Or is this really our state of the union after 8 years from a failed Presidential administration…?

1. The U.S. Constitution has been undermined by a dictatorship, rendering our system of Democracy impotent and dead.

2. We have waged war on sovereign nations under false pretenses and without consent of our countries’ legal jurisprudence. This is evidenced as the plans for war with Iraq were drawn and laid even prior to 9/11 and the Vice President’s office cherry picked, edited and fabricated and falsified documents to serve this purpose involving the FBI and CIA, according to recent publications of people who actually witnessed this treason.

3. The weapons grade Anthrax ‘attack’ on our Senate was traced back to our own manufacture and came from our own labs. Although the official story now is that there was a rogue “Mad Scientist” who was coincidentally unstable (and is now also coincidentally dead, mysteriously committing suicide) as he’s made out as the patsy for this ‘Attack’. However, simultaneously there is no collateral corroboration in that event to substantiate the forced signing under Presidential Order to force the Patriot Act to be ratified by Congress without their even reading the document, without any debate or dialogue within our public democracy to argue the fact that this document would render the U.S. Constitution inert and effectively as Pres. Bush is quoted, “just a God Damned piece of paper”.

4. The Blatant appointment of not just incompetent heads of Federal agencies’ but the appointment of these agencies’ chief’s as being completely partial un-objective and acting in their capacity with serious conflict of interest issues, which our democratic system of government should and would have normally vetted these conflict of interested individuals right out of the running for holding these posts. This has created our greatest debt and has resulted in the ultimate breakdown of our entire countries’ ability to effectively govern and hold balance in its economic mechanisms. The environmental detriment alone to our nations’ ecological equilibrium is as affected, as our nations’ economic forces as a direct result of these conflict of interest appointments to head these departments.

5. Sworn Testimony: This alone is the smoking gun to the Bush/Cheney legacy of the quagmiristic and ill fated state of our nation as we are left with it smoldering today. The lack thereof of any sworn testimony, or corroboration or cooperation with any culpability or accountability from these two men alone throughout their entire 8 year rein to offer any coherent record of their actions prior to, during and post 9/11/2001 alone is reprehensible and shameful if not criminal. Deniability is the law of the day and Dick Cheney knows this and has played us for fools one too many times. Karl Rove must appear for his Congressional subpoena, the allowance for him to evade this bench warrant is baffling. Citizens from around the country have actually tried to arrest him… again, baffling.


There are many itemizable and categorical issues which splinter off these crimes committed by our office of President of The United States. Too many, that to list them all and would bog down the most keen of minds. A “QUAGMIRE” of events have brought us all to this point of being so attacked on so many fronts that it would seem daunting and fruitless to pursue any or even all of them due to the extent that so many of these crimes are cemented deep within a ‘quagmire’ of governmental smoke screens and barrages of litigious folly and political hit men, which would render their mere investigations as being bogged down and muted.

The flaw here is that this should not be the case at all. Our government (supposedly) is packed with public servants sworn to uphold what is now merely a “piece of paper”, who have great paying jobs with benefits and the cache’ of having a position of “Power” in their sworn positions of public service to OUR COUNTRY. These public servants have failed us, PERIOD.

Real Patriots and public servants of the highest order have been given names like crazy, idiot, fool, ideologue and un-American… The truth is these few have been the only ones to give truth, justice and the American way a voice and a consequence for these crimes committed against our great nation. Ron Paul & Dennis Kucinich Both ran for President this past election period, as did Ralph Nader and former Rep. Cynthia McKinney (D-GA). These people said on stage in public, on record, all sentiments I have just pointed out. They called for immediate public attention to these enemies within, an immediate Congressional investigation and immediate correction (impeachment). Their words will forever pock mark the deniability and reckless efforts to evade accountability and culpability from this administrations’ wicked and shameful actions to drag all of us into the mud for alignment with whatever plan they have in place to benefit themselves and for God only knows what the continuance of their agenda is next…

These crimes most not go unanswered and they must not be permitted to stand in the light of day, for all of us good American’s have been represented by scams and conmen and criminals, who actually believe that you and I are powerless, dumb as a stump and have no civic pride…they believe that We The People are the enemy.

We need to demand that change happens NOW with an accounting and a reckoning for all the worst of the worst that we and the whole world have been made to endure for this real Axis of Evil, known as the BUSH DYNASTY.

It isn’t about being Democrat or Republican anymore either… these are mere labels designed to divide us and keep us arguing insiginificant details amongst ourselves while the 800-lb. gorilla slumbers in the living room. It is obvious to me now that this is a device to separate the best of neighbors at the community level… We all love our country and we should never forget that our founding fathers spoke out against the tyranny of the crown and that this is how we came to be… That sentiment and that spirit is being propagandized now in reverse engineering (Thanks Hitler, I mean Rove) for being Un-American? Nonsense… I love my country AND I WANT IT BACK… AND SO DO YOU!


Why isn’t Osama Bin Laden being charged with masterminding or carrying out the events occurring on 9/11/2001 on the FBI Most Wanted List…? I was amazed to find this out and no, it isn’t obvious actually! And it’s the details like this that got us to where we are right here and right now…

This isn’t Liberal or Democratic rhetoric or ‘conspiracy theory nonsense’ anymore, this is all of our business and no agenda or party line or talking point should have the ill afforded privilege or assumed cadence to usurp the real authority of the citizenry combined of the U.S.A. when crimes committed to this extent against our own country remain “Unsolved” or un-investigated… Not when the fallout of all these Quagmiristic coincidences occurred conveniently on just two men’s watch… and in “Modern Times”?!!!

We need an “above board” Constitutional Damage Assessment Oversight Committee formed ASAP… from the OBAMA Administration… Hey RFK Jr.! Hey Caroline! (Hint)… This is what we New Yorkers (and all Americans) need to hear. If you’ve found your voice, use it!

So…Um…Like, You Know, Happy New Year, You Know?

With the economy plunging, an Illinois political scandal brewing, and the Middle East igniting (again), this seems a rather ridiculous time for the media to be putting so much time, energy and precious column inches into analyzing Caroline Kennedy’s speech patterns. But hey — like, you know…this is supposed to be a slow news week, you know?

You know, it’s that time of year traditionally reserved for “best and worst moments of 2008” fluff stuff and election retrospectives, you know, and we just think that…well, you know, maybe this year the media should be like, paying more attention to what’s going on in the world, you know. Because it’s not like any other year, you know, when We The Media can take a nice long nap between December 23 and January 2, because, you know, there’s like nothing going on, anyway…

No, this year, you know, we’re like, facing the greatest domestic economic crisis since the Great Depression, you know. While we were sleeping, the robber barons of Wall St. made out like bandits and left the American people holding the…you know….the bag, or whatever. Israel and Palestine are teetering on the brink of all-out war; and so are…like, India and Pakistan, you know. While our incoming President-elect is preparing to take the oath of in 21 days, our outgoing lame duck is passing out pardons like party hats in Times Square, and you know, somebody ought to be like, keeping an eye on him.

But you know, the press in this country really can’t be, you know, bothered with those uh, political things, because they’re too….like…you know, uh, political or something.

Besides, it’s a lot more fun to make fun of the way Caroline Kennedy um, talks…you know?

46 “you knows” in 5 minutes, they say. (Or was it 138 “you knows”? Who knows? And who really cares?) You know, like, this is really um, scientific because people actually sit around counting them, you know. And they’re very like, um, accurate and stuff, you know.

Don’t you think that maybe, um….you know, this is all, you know, just a little bit ridiculous?

Well, you know, whatever. Maybe we’ll finally, like, see some know…change in our government next year. We can only hope that Caroline Kennedy will be, you know, a part of that wave of change in Washington because, God knows (like YOU know) we… like, really need it, you know?

All that being said (well, sort of – did anything I just wrote make any kind of, you know, sense?), we just want to like, say THANK YOU for another great year at the RFK Jr. for President website, and um, you know, we hope to see you all back here again, you know, in 2009 to carry forward our mission, because we still, you know, really want Bobby to run for…you know, President in 2012 or 2016. And we’re gonna…like, seriously you know, need your help.

And Caroline, we just want you to know (even if you already DO know) that we’re like, um, totally going to support you if, you know, Governor Paterson gives you that senate seat. Hey, we’re RFK Jr.’s crowd; the guys and gals who are always reminding folks that, you know, how Bobby talks doesn’t matter — what he says does. We’re always asking people to try and overlook his vocal disability and just like, listen to the issues he’s, you know, um, talking about.

Well, the same goes for you, Caroline. We don’t, you know, care how you talk. We’re listening to what you say.

And besides, we always like, found those Boston-ish “ah, ah’s” “um’s” and “you know’s” to be an endearing vocal tic in the family tree; one of those things we, um, you know, really love about the Kennedy clan. Half the fun is just listening to ya’ll talk! (Then again, we’re Texans, so you probably think we like, talk funny too.) Can’t um, take this stuff like, personally, you know.

Hey, it’s like, New Year’s Eve, so cheer up already, world! You know, things aren’t all that glum, you know, even if it kind of um…looks that way right now. The good news is that George W. Bush will be like, GONE in 21 days, so like, um, that’s something to, you know, celebrate. You know?

So go out and have a good time tonight, everybody! Party like it’s the end of an era, because, you know, it is.

Thank God for that!

I find it somewhat interesting that no sooner is Caroline Kennedy’s name seriously mentioned as a contender for the U.S. Senate seat currently held by Hillary Clinton, all of a sudden we start hearing words like “nepotism” and “dynasty” being tossed around. As if this is some kind of new phenomenon in American politics. Anyone ever heard of John Adams? How about John Quincy Adams? Yes, we’ve been doing this for awhile…

Of course, I understand that our apparent willingness to bestow power upon certain members of elite political families could be a weakness of the American political system, and that is a worthwhile debate to have. But where was all the righteous outcry about nepotism and dynasties over the past three decades when we were simply passing the torch back and forth between the Clinton and Bush royal families?

So, let me get this straight: if it is a Bush or a Clinton, dynasties are good, but if a Kennedy wants to enter public office, dynasties are bad?

What is so horribly wrong with JFK’s daughter ‘evening up’ the ‘dynasty’? Aside from the obvious “lack of experience” mantra we so often hear nowadays, does the bloodline of JFK and RFK bear any merit and value for us? Nepotism, they say? Thank GOD it’s not Despotism (unless you’d rather have the last 8 years back).

I’m more than okay with a Kennedy representing me as a NY resident. Caroline Kennedy as Senator representing NY State sends a message that there may be real change in the Senate coming, as well as in the Presidency. God knows we need all hands on deck now to turn this mess around…as Caroline herself said the other day in Harlem: “this is a time when no one can afford to sit out.”

Now that’s the spirit, Caroline! That’s why I think you’re gonna do just fine as a Senator. What you don’t know, you will quickly learn. What you haven’t done before, you will do.  Your ability and willingness are the only qualifications you really need for this gig, and don’t let people tell you otherwise.

Remember that before your uncle won that same senate seat in 1964, he served as the most “unqualified” U.S. attorney general in American history. Your father appointed Bobby as A.G. knowing he had no courtroom experience as a lawyer, but JFK trusted that what RFK didn’t know, he would learn. Jack was right — his younger brother (appointed among cries of “blatant Nepotism!” and “Unqualified!”) turned out to be more than just controversial…most historians now agree that Robert Kennedy was also the finest attorney general of the 20th century, if not in the entire history of this nation.

So, on the subject of nepotism and political dynasties, let’s take a look at what Politico had to say about it earlier this week, then I’ll toss in my .02 cents below:

Barack Obama’s path to the presidency included beating what had been one of the nation’s most powerful families. But, in an unusual twist, his election last month is helping accelerate the trend toward dynasty politics.

His secretary of state will be Hillary Clinton, the wife of the former president. The Senate seat she’ll vacate is being pursued by Caroline Kennedy, the daughter of a president and the niece of two senators. Joe Biden’s Senate seat may go to his son Beau. Colorado Sen. Ken Salazar, Obama’s pick for interior secretary, could end up being replaced by his brother, Rep. John Salazar.

And Obama’s own seat could go to the son of the Rev. Jesse Jackson Sr. – less likely now in light of developments in the Rod Blagojevich scandal – or to the daughter of Illinois’ current House speaker.

The U.S. Senate could end up looking like an American version of the House of Lords – and Republicans have begun to take notice.

“Democrats seem to lack a common man who can just win a good, old-fashioned election,” said Rep. Tom Reynolds (R-N.Y.), the former chairman of the National Republican Congressional Committee. “They’ve got seat-warmers, seat-sellers and the making of pillows for the seats of royalty. No wonder the public wonders what’s going on in Washington.”

While Obama’s election and subsequent Cabinet appointments may have accelerated the trend toward dynasty, he’s hardly responsible for it. There is a rich bipartisan history of dynasty in American politics that dates all the way back to the Founding Fathers; Obama-Biden actually represents the first winning ticket since 1976 without a son or a grandson of a U.S. senator on it.

In 2008, the storied Udall clan, sometimes referred to as the Western Kennedys, saw two members elected to the Senate— Mark from Colorado and Tom from New Mexico. In 2010, they could be joined in the Senate by Florida’s Jeb Bush, the son and brother of presidents and the grandson of a senator.

All told, it’s entirely possible that the Senate will be comprised of nearly a dozen congressional offspring by the end of Obama’s first term as president.

“It’s a very interesting American phenomenon, even though there is a line in the Constitution that says no title of nobility may be granted by the United States,” says Stephen Hess, a senior fellow emeritus at the Brookings Institution and the author of “America’s Political Dynasties.” “Given where we started, it’s interesting that this has developed.”

Almost everyone agrees that the high cost of elections is making the world’s most exclusive club seem even more exclusive. According to some estimates, the cost of winning Clinton’s New York Senate seat in the special election in 2010 and the general election in 2012 will be in the neighborhood of $70 million.

“There are three issues behind this trend,” said Bob Edgar, the president of Common Cause and a former Pennsylvania congressman. “Money is issue number one, money is issue number two and money is issue number three.”

“It’s an enormously expensive process to run for the United States Senate,” added Edgar, who ran unsuccessfully for the Senate in 1986. “And once someone runs for a Senate seat, there is a sense of ownership.”

At the moment, the Senate includes six sons or daughters of congressmen.

And the House – the “people’s House” – isn’t exactly bereft of hereditary influence, either.

In the 111th Congress next year, there will be 21 House members with a parent who also served in Congress – plus five wives who currently hold their late husbands’ seats.

If Caroline Kennedy is appointed to the New York Senate seat — once held by her uncle, Sen. Robert F. Kennedy — she would be joined in Congress not only by another uncle, Sen. Ted Kennedy, but also by his son, Rhode Island Rep. Patrick Kennedy .

Caroline Kennedy picked up support Tuesday from Rep. Louise Slaughter (D-N.Y.), but Kennedy’s relative inexperience has some other New York Democrats feeling wary – even if she does come wrapped in a legendary political name.

Republican New York Rep. Peter King – who is considering his own run for the seat – asked why New Yorkers would feel more comfortable with Kennedy “than with people who have worked in the trenches and worked their way up.”

Then he answered his own question.

Editorial Comment:

Okay, at some point we who are supportive of politically active Kennedys are going to need to take a position on Caroline’s aspiration to become “D-NY Senator Kennedy”…

That said, and with times of real peril foisted upon us from previous ‘Dy-Nasty’s” ! (Bush 1 & 2)… Cronyism and Nepotism need real alignment and accountablility if / should “it” be permitted to be continued as our best practices management going forward from the hell we are in presently.

A word about Caroline Kennedy, from the humble perspective of a New Yorker: I don’t know much about her, nobody (mainstream) really does.. She is the Daughter of JFK, she has lived in NYS most of her life, has worked in education, has kept her head low politically and in mid-life, is coming out to face a potential continuation of a paternal legacy in her aspiring to serve us in the Federal Government.

Not just any legacy is this public servant seeking to carry on, but the legacy we thought we would never see, ever again…the legacy of Pres. John Fitzgerald Kennedy. I know, I know, right JFK! are you nuts? She hasn’t the slightest idea of what government is! (you might and most likely are saying). Another angle might be ‘great, give Democrats an inch and they’ll take a mile! Oh boy we’re really gonna be taxed and spent out of our minds now! Freeking Liberals!!!…’ Ad Infinitum, to include most easily understood diatribe from the right and all talking points from the Rovianesque era we so need to build escape velocity to break away from.

The Dynasty thing is kinda creepy I’ll admit, but then again this is the Daughter of JFK. “John John,” Caroline’s only brother was ‘killed’ in the prime of his life and was posturing for public office himself, it seemed (this very same Senate seat, as a matter of fact). Caroline’s cousin RFK Jr. is completely active and has his finger on our nation’s pulse in terms of speaking just like his dad and his Uncle did to serve us… and yes, I have to confess that Bobby Jr. was my natural first choice to get the appointment to the senate seat once held by his father. So now comes Caroline.

Caroline, in my book is entitled to at least step up and take a shot at the office of NYS Senator. I don’t have to recant the horrors that Caroline and John Jr. or RFK. Jr. for that matter had to endure for their entire lives… Who else in the “running” for Senate, had their Father and Uncle shot in cold blood (Assassinated) as our sitting U.S. President and NYS Senator, in front of the entire world?

Now in their early 50s, Caroline and RFK Jr. are all grown up and ready to pick up the torches their martyred fathers left behind. With family obligations and enough money and projects to keep them busy for the rest of their lives, they’d dare to take the risk of serving the next generation, their generation of today’s broken America, with the myriad of quagmiristic dilemma and trauma associated with anything political today? Why would they do it if they didn’t truly feel a call towards a life of public service? I would have thought that if public service was sought for someone who just had to merely show interest in running to gain a senate seat, then the present is certainly not the most advantageous or attractive of a time to “fall in” for duty…


We have corruption and despotic foundations laid in the blood soaked brick and mortar of our nations’ highest offices and agancies today (Fact). We have endured a legacy of utter disregard for our most basic principles in this past administration (Fact). We are staring down the barrel of real economic disaster (We are bankrupt?!). Thanks largely to Brain Trusts and lobbyists from this administration which ushered in the likes of unbridled derregulation and real “trickle down my leg” beauties like the Enron loophole (thanks Bush), environmental disaster, infrastructure decay, moral degredation (inside and outside of government), a non-educated / dis-interested youth and a breeding ground for people in the world for people who don’t like “US” very much lately (Fact).

A “super- hero” is not likely to emerge… More likely however, we’ll need all the best and brightest to heal our great country and if ‘Star Power’ is anticipated as that which comes from JFK Himself , represented by his kin is available… So be it.

Not that it is even on the table… I feel our nation owes a debt of gratitude in the least in this case, to take the Daughter of JFK seriously when she say’s SHE WANTS TO SERVE US. What right to any nepotism do any of the current Dynasties serving in government have to authenticate their “right to that priviledge” over that which should be embraced and welcomed from all of us as a nation to offer an open placeholder for JFK’s children, who shared directly and publicly in our nations’ best and worst modern times… 

There is an eternal flame marking JFK’s grave. That flame has been lit for over 40 years… People to this day hold tremendous respect for President Kennedy’s purpose and message, with enduring sentiment and commitment. When was the last time that you can remember(if ever), that a single person moved so many and as much as JFK?… I can’t recall one. Ask not… what a Kennedy can do for us, the irony and tragedy is immense and their service has been obvious… Ask what… we can do for a Kennedy…

If there is one person, one name, one qualified, bonefide name for healing our identity in these days and possibly usher back in respect for us from the world, that name is Caroline Kennedy. Real change is coming to America, with a new president coming to power in less than 30 days… Let that be partly in the presence of the capable, intelligent, adult child of JFK sitting in our Senate, representing the iconic and proud State of NY!


Let JFK’s LEGACY BEGIN ANEW… and enjoy this moment while it lasts. Don’t worry, the BUSH “NEPOTISM” is ultimately going to rear it’s head again… Right Jeb?! (Boy, another Bush Administration will just about “put the fork in” us altogether… We’ll be DONE!) But right now, we’ve got work to do — serious work — work begun nearly half a century ago by Caroline’s father, President Kennedy. Work that is still unfinished.

After JFK’s Assassination, President Lyndon B. Johnson said, “let us continue…” Now, 45 years later, I say: “Let us begin again!”

“All this will not be finished in the first one hundred days. Nor will it be finished in the first one thousand days; nor in the life of this Administration; nor even perhaps in our lifetime on this planet. But let us begin.

In your hands, my fellow citizens, more than mine, will rest the final success or failure of our course. Since this country was founded, each generation of Americans has been summoned to give testimony to its national loyalty. The graves of young Americans who answered the call to service surround the globe.

Now the trumpet summons us again…

Kennedy’s “Warning”: Dictatorship Is Coming Soon (to a Theater Near You)


Robert F. Kennedy Jr. can be seen in the new independent film, “The Warning,” along with Naomi Klein, Joe Conason, Chris Hedges, and Naomi Wolf.

These five authors stood up and spoke truth to power, exposing shocking trends towards a police state, an accelerated corporate integration with the state and the blatant subversion of the Constitution.
