RED ROCKS CONCERT KICKS OFF DNC WEEK
The Denver 2008 Convention Host Committee will present an official welcoming concert event for invited guests to celebrate the City’s greening efforts around the 2008 Democratic National Convention, as well as to raise environmental awareness. “Green Sunday At Red Rocks,” an opening act to Denver’s hosting of the Convention, will feature performances by recording artists and environmental advocates including Dave Matthews with Tim Reynolds, Sheryl Crow and Sugarland.
The event also will feature addresses by Laurie David, global warming activist and producer of Al Gore’s “An Inconvenient Truth”; Van Jones, founder and president of Green For All; Bill McDonough, architect and sustainable living pioneer; and Robert F. Kennedy Jr., senior attorney for NRDC and chairman of Waterkeeper Alliance.
Executive hosts for the event will be Gov. Bill Ritter Jr., Mayor John Hickenlooper and U.S. Sen. Ken Salazar. Congresswoman Diana DeGette and Gov. Tim Kaine of Virginia also will appear.
The event is made possible by donations from BNSF Railroad, MolsonCoors, Xcel Energy, Level 3, Diageo, and Liberty Media.

Robert F. Kennedy Jr., to Address Hundreds of Education Activists,
Voting Delegates Attending Democratic National Convention
The National Education Association, in conjunction with the Colorado Education Association, will host Robert F. Kennedy, Jr., and hundreds of educators — and voting delegates — on the eve of the 2008 Democratic National Convention in Denver, Colo., underscoring the historic role activists and educators have played as one of the largest delegations to the convention for decades. Kennedy will speak to the NEA members and delegates.
Millions of dedicated educators and party activists are expected to play a critical role in the 2008 election. The hundreds of NEA members and DNC delegates, including 22 superdelegates, come from 41 states and the District of Columbia. NEA members attending the convention aim to put education and other pocket-book issues front and center in this election cycle and will work to inform the public and draw distinctions about where the candidates, Sen. John McCain and Sen. Barack Obama, are on the issues of concern to Americans. It’s one of the reasons NEA has launched a $50 million campaign to elect pro-public education candidates like Sen. Obama in the November election. The Association’s more than 3.2 million members live in every state, in every congressional district, and in every precinct in America.
